The world heritage terracotta army was found in the city of Xi’an, China. This incredible archaeological discovery took place in 1974 when local farmers stumbled upon an underground army of life-sized statues made of terracotta. The terracotta army is part of the mausoleum of the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, who ruled from 221 to 210 BC. The site, now known as the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, has since become a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction.
